Bellino: Democrat lame duck agenda out of touch with Michigan families

LANSING, Mich. — Sen. Joseph Bellino, R-Monroe, on Monday issued the following statement in response to last week’s record-breaking 29-hour lame duck Senate session:

“Instead of focusing on the challenges facing Michigan families, Democrats used lame duck to push their out-of-touch policies that would only make life harder and more expensive.

“Senate Republicans stood firm against their reckless lame duck agenda, which included dangerous and costly proposals like granting driver’s licenses to illegal immigrants, imposing new taxes on garbage, water and even rain, handing out subsidies to Hollywood elites, enacting the National Popular Vote, allowing the early release of violent felons, increasing the vehicle registration fee by $100, creating toll roads and giving away billions in corporate handouts.

“I look forward to working with my colleagues in the House to get back to the issues that truly matter to Michigan families — protecting jobs, lowering costs and addressing the challenges facing our communities.”
